Walk for Life 2011
Sister Rosalia Bauer was the Winner of the $300 Visa Gift card (graciously donated by a supporter) for bringing in the most $$ in Sponsorships. Her total was a whopping $3202.62. The deadline to be part of the contest was the Wednesday after the Walk. Below Sister wrote a few words sharing her heart.
“Let There be Life!” the 2011 theme for the Stateline Pregnancy Clinic’s annual Walk for Life, provided a personal challenge for me. Each year since my arrival in Beloit in 1993, my heart has directed me to be present, helping in human life promoting activities. My weekly presence at 10th and Broadway in Rockford where mothers on Wednesdays and Fridays came to have the baby in their wombs killed has deepened my conviction to awaken my heart and that of others to this horrible reality. These babies are our sisters and brothers deprived of living.
Our local Stateline Pregnancy Clinic, located at 347 West Grand Ave. Beloit, provides practical help for mothers facing an unplanned pregnancy. Pregnancy tests, ultra sounds, pre-natal vitamins, adoption and abortion education, parenting classes, diapers, baby supplies, post-abortion grief assistance and more are available. So when Mimi Williams posted forms at St. Jude’s Church, to participate in this Walk for Life, I decided to “go for it.”
Often I was surprised by joy at the willingness and generosity of people. Our parish members, people in Beloit, the “Traveling Retreads,” Linda Mershon, the president of my Franciscan Community, and many others, gave money for this project. My oldest niece, Mary Jane Schaab donated saying, ‘‘may each step of your walk save a life.” This further spurred me on to request donations, which does not come easily for me. I prefer ‘doing.’ When Jerry Churchill put 12 watermelons by the ‘garden gate’ “to give away,” I used this opportunity by posting a sign, and labeled a coffee can for donations. The watermelons disappeared with hefty donations in the coffee can. My heart overflows with gratitude to each person who donated to this project, to Marybeth Karstaedt, Director of the Stateline Pregnancy Clinic, her staff and volunteers who provide these most needed services in our Stateline area. God reward and bless you! Sister Rosalia Bauer
Currently, our WALK FOR LIFE has brought in $11,000.00. Walkers are still handing in their support. Thank you to all who participated. You make our work in Promoting Life, Providing Help, Producing Hope possible and effective.

Respect Life Memorial
Thank you to all who attended the Respect Life memorial service. A group of pro-lifers and friends of Stateline Pregnancy Clinic gathered to remember those whose lives have been ended or hurt by abortion, and miscarriage. The clear, crisp and beautiful morning was a reminder of God’s grace and goodness. A redemptive theme reminded us that God’s promise is “beauty for ashes, and the oil of joy for mourning.” Pastor Dave Metzger of Cornerstone Church of God led the service and shared the message. Pastor Philip Ramsey of Afton Community Church led the group singing.
